Sony Playstation Portable - PSP

One thing Sony is known for is their aesthetically pleasing products.  The original Playstation was no slouch in its slim size, and both the original andredesigned versions of the PS2 made them right at home in any gaming fan’s universe.  The same goes for the PSP.

The PSP is much more than just your average portable game system. With it's memory card capabilities you can download PSP games, movies, wallpapers, cruise the internet, play emulated games, listen to music or watch your favorite movie.

The system, for all it hides inside its slim exterior, is fairly lightweight – surely a bonus with serious gamers who could play the game for hours on end without feeling weighed down.

The PSP controls are slightly modeled after the PS2 controllers, with the exception of two of the PS2’s front triggers and the right control stick, and in place of the left control stick is something called a “nub”, which moves in gentle motion in a horizontal direction.  This gives you the same control as a stick but without the height and uncomfortable positioning a stick would require.

One of the hottest features of the PSP, and quite possibly one of its top selling points is the high-definition screen.  While it may be small (4.3 inches), games and films can be seen in a brighter view, widescreen format on the crisp and clear screen.  While we’re used to widescreen on films, it is almost certain that widescreen will become the new choice in video games as it offers a larger view of the play area and is much more visually pleasing.

The technology involved in the PSP is some of Sony’s best yet, adding the console to the list of Sony’s already stellar gaming arsenal and pushing Sony ahead in the battle of the game systems.  While Nintendo continues to hold its place on the handheld gaming throne, it’s safe to say that the PSP could be the challenger to overthrow the reigning console ruler.
